Installation using Portage
The official Gentoo Portage includes all of the scim/skim packages of SCIM project.
Installing scim/skim
To install scim for use in a GTK+ environment:
emerge scim scim-tables
To install skim for use in a KDE/Qt environment:
emerge skim scim-tables scim-qtimm
Installing Chinese input methods
To install the Smart Pinyin input method:
emerge scim-pinyin
